What Does God Mean to Me Tag

God means to me header

Today’s post is going to be shorter than usual, but I could use a short post and I hopefully won’t take up too much of your time with it ๐Ÿ˜€ A few months ago, Tania @ Write Owl tagged me to do this tag, which is more of a serious tag than the others I’ve participated in, but it might help you understand what I believe in!

Here we go (thanks to the wonderful, Tania for tagging me :D)

Who is God to you?

God is a Father, Ruler, Judge, Comforter, and someone I am not worthy to approach, yet He still calls me to Himself.

Which book of the Bible is your favourite?

How can I choose? There’s so many good ones. I really like Proverbs, Psalms, Ruth, The Gospels…If I had to choose just one though, maybe Romans. (BTW, though, Ruth is the book I’ve read the most times, cover to cover–so to speak. I’ve read it four–or five–times!

What was a defining moment of your life as a Christian?

I think my life has been made up of hundreds and thousands of little things that have piled up on top of me to create who I am. I’m not sure if I can pick just one moment, but two years ago, I went on a weeklong camp, and that was a defining week of my life. In my Christian walk, and in helping me build courage and confidence and drawing closer to God.

Who is your favourite Bible character and why?

Again, there’s so many!! I’ve always admired Joseph from Genesis and Ruth. They both were so patient, kind, compassionate and full of love, both for God and for everyone around them. They were diligent, worked hard and relied on God for literally everything. So they’re my favourites (Jesus, of course, does not count).

What is your favourite worship song and why?

So many!!! (Do you see the theme yet? There are a lot of choices in the world and I am indecisive). At the moment, I really like the song “Oceans”, by Hillsong. I just love the way, when you sing it, you’re putting your life in God’s hand, to take you wherever He desires, the places we could never go in our own strength. Other than that, I’ve always loved “Be Thou My Vision” (as much for the music as for the lyrics, I will admit), “In Christ Alone”, “Amazing Grace”, “O Come To the Altar”, and a new favourite we sang at youth the other night “Weep With Me”.

My Questions:

Who is God to you?

Which Bible verse do you think has shaped the way you live?

Which Bible character do you identify the most with?

What is your favourite way to praise God?

What is your favourite praise song or Psalm?

  1. Thanks for tagging me (I just put my post up)! I think that this is a wonderful tag! Proverbs is definitely one of my favorite books as well and Ruth is also one of my favorites. I’ve always loved Esther as well. I also love the epistles! I loved how you put what God means to you! I think that it was well-put and eloquently spoken! Wonderful post!

  2. Thank you for tagging me! I absolutely loved your answer to “defining moment in your life as a Christian”–sometimes those big epiphanies hit, but just as often, it’s the little moments that add up to influence and change you. Like building a city stone by stone, I guess. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. This was really interesting and beautiful, I loved reading your answers.
Thanks for tagging me, but my blog is really a writing/book blog, so it would be kind of off-topic to do it there. They’re good questions to think about, though. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I love “Oceans” and “In Christ Alone”! I have no idea what my favorite worship song is though.
God is the reason I am alive, he wants what is best for me, and he is the only one who can see the big picture. All good and beautiful things in the world come from him and he has given me everything I need to succeed, even if I can’t always see it. He is the mighty creator of the universe and a tender, loving father.
    Great post!
