Voted Most Likely Tag

Good morning! Today we’re up to our third character tag and this is one that I’ve seen floating around the internet for some time. Someone might have tagged me for it, I don’t know 😛

Before we start, I’ll just let you know that this is a scheduled post, and that I’m away for the next few days, so I’ll be a bit slow getting back to your lovely comments.

Here we go!

Most likely to be a poet

Definitely Quillon. In fact, if he isn’t writing poetry already, I have no idea what he is doing with his life.

Most likely to dance in the rain

Sapphire probably. She’s a romantic sort who likes rain and dancing.

Most Likely to look good in a kilt

af8f46c041fcfe858381f688b6aa1667

Dae Quillon. She was probably a highland dancer in her younger days, and kilts are just as Irish as they are Scottish (look Irish kilts up, I really like them), and she’s definitely Irish. 😛 She probably looks outstanding.

Most likely to get punched in the face

Sean Darcy. It happens a few times.

Most likely to drop everything and become a sheep herder

Courageous. He hates everything to do with being king and if someone was to offer him a position as a shepherd, he definitely wouldn’t object.

Most likely to be found in a library

Neva is well known for her love of reading, though the libraries in her time and place are mostly full of propaganda literature.

Most likely to sleep through an earthquake

Kendall. He could even sleep through a revolution if drunk enough. 😉

Most likely to steal from other people’s plates

Kai. If you’ve got a baby brother of the smaller variety, you’ll know this is true.

Most likely to cheat on a test

f339b4d0bffc778e639c9f2de524c641

Obviously Zac Stoner. 😛

Most likely to say “oops” after setting fire to something

Is this a trick question? Justice is definitely the most likely to set something on fire, but he’s not going to say “oops” after doing so.

Most likely to open an orphanage

Jean Verde. He’s already running an unofficial orphanage anyway.

Most likely to run off with the circus

Dae Quillon runs off to join a theatre, so that’s pretty much the same thing

Most likely to survive the Zombie Apocalypse

Yilla, since she has good survival skills.

Or maybe Quillon, since I could never bear to kill him.

Most likely to fake their own death

Zac is most likely…but Justice is the one who actually has. *spoilers*

Most likely to die and haunt their friends

If we mean a literal ghost…eh, probably Kendall.

I’m not going to tag anyone for this one, but if you’d like to do it, feel free to take it and claim I tagged you 😀

Have you done the Voted Most Likely Tag? Which of your characters is mostly likely to become a ghost? Which character is most likely to open an orphanage?

Les Mis Character Tag

This is actually a post I’ve had sitting half completed in the archives for literally months. It hails from last November 😛

Now, I could easily fill out this character tag using the characters from my Les Miserables retelling, The Stars Fill Infinity, but I decided to make this more difficult by only using my Wattle Fires characters.

Without further ado, here’s my original intro:

*

Last Saturday, I had the immense privilege of going to see Les Miserables performed live down in Nowra. Before you ask, it was absolutely amazing. I loved all of the actors, but some of them were just brilliant. I had a grand old time, and then came back home, only to find that an even greater privilege had been bestowed upon me. The wonderful Story Sponge tagged me for the Les Mis Character Tag.

So here’s the rules:

  1. Acknowledge the human/dragon/sponge that tagged you (done already)
  2. Acknowledge the sponge that created the tag (also done)
  3. Tag as many people as you so desire (not done yet, but will be soon)

The only thing I’m changing is that Story Sponge used characters from already published books when answering the question. However, since it’s NaNo and I feel like talking about myself and brilliant creations* I’m going to use my own characters for the tag.

Here we go!

*On an unrelated note, people tend to see me as being quite humble. But I have no idea why.

Valjean’s Soliloquy (a Character who’s whole view of the world undergoes a dramatic shift)

Lailani (High-Praise). She starts the story being spoilt and entitled, a princess used to getting whatever she wants. She ends the story differently, but saying exactly how or why would be spoilers, wouldn’t it?

I Dreamed a Dream (a character who never seems to have any good luck whatsoever)

Aputi, Courageous’ servant. The poor man is so underappreciated and rather stepped on that he should start a revolution, just to get his dues.

Fantine’s Arrest (a character who just makes your skin crawl)

Actually, there aren’t many character in Wattle Fires that make my skin crawl. However, some of Courageous’ uncles are absolutely horrible. Whether or not they make my skin crawl is debatable though.

The Bargain/The Waltz of Treachery (a character who is a master of manipulation)

The villain who is mentioned below.

Stars (a villain with convincing motivation)

Well, the villain in Wattle Fires is a surprise reveal, so I’m not going to mention a name here, but I think they have a good motivation. 😛 I hope so anyway!

Do You Hear The People Sing? (a character who inspires other people)

Yilla. She wouldn’t see herself this way, but others, especially Courageous and Lailani, do. She inspires them to be better people, to think of others, to step out of their comfort zones, to love. She’s definitely inspirational to the people in her life.

Little People (a little character with a lot of spunk)

Ooh… Well, I don’t really have any little characters in this story, but I’d say Wirra. Wirra is Yilla’s younger sister, and about fifteen. She’s definitely full of spark, but she’s not like Gavroche at all 😛

Bring Him Home (a character who is sacrificially protective)

I feel like answering this one would stray too far into spoiler territory. All of my characters are sacrificially protective at some time or another, but I don’t think I can reveal any particular characters 🙂

Actually, I’ll say Yilla, and leave you wondering why.

Javert’s Suicide (an extremely conflicted character)

Moerani. I spoke a little about him yesterday and he’s definitely conflicted. He’s conflicted between believing that he is the rightful king, and his love for his nephew.

Oh, I so love writing conflicted characters!

Empty Chairs at Empty Tables (an impossibly lonely character)

Courageous. He’s so alone it makes my heart hurt sometimes. The poor fellow. Hopefully that changes by the end of the novel 🙂

Have you seen or listened to Les Mis? Which of your characters match which song? Do you have a character who never seems to have any good luck?

The Star Wars Character Tag

(And look, I would love to give you a pretty blog header here, but the photo editor just refuses to work and I’ve lost patience. So unfortunately, you will not be getting one).

Hello there! I’m trying something a little bit different for this week, in that I’ll be posting every day (all being well). And I’m going to be focussing on characters! There’s a lot of fun character tags running round the internet at the moment, and since some of them look fun, and I’ve been tagged for several, I’m going to being tackling them all this week.

And I’m starting with…

The Star Wars Character Tag.

Now, full disclaimer. I have never seen Star Wars in my life. However, Jen did this one, and it looked like fun, so I’m rolling with it. 😛

Here goes.

1. THERE ARE NO RULES.

2. Refer To Number 1.

3. There is one absolute rule: You MUST use your own characters (OCs) for this tag. (Brownie points if you add pictures of your characters.)

4. The Sorta Rule: Scream a huge thank you to whoever tagged you for this whilst treating them to a pizza dinner at your favorite pizza chain.

5. The Kinda Rule: Include This Link In The Post So That The Penny Can Read Everyone’s Answers To This Smol Strange Tag: https://asouthernbellewithstoriestotell.wordpress.com/2019/02/18/the-star-wars-character-tag-i-made-my-own-tag-halp/

6. The Rule That’s Not Really A Rule But It Would Be Great: Include the graphic and tag at least three Jedi or Sith Lords.

  1. Who is your Obi-Wan Kenobi? (sassy, great mentor, but can be a bit strict)

(I would include a picture, but it’s ridiculously hard for Pinterest to comprehend that Polynesian men who aren’t crazily sexualised exist. So I’ll pass on the picture for now).

Moerani (formerly Repent, name subject to change) from Wattle Fire. I’m not sure if he qualifies as “sassy”, but he definitely has very dry humour, that very British/Commonwealth sort of humour. He’s also strict, but in a fair sort of way. Great mentor? Not sure, but effective, if not morally good.

2. Who’s your Leia Organa? (feisty, incredible comebacks, and does their own thing)

Heirani (formerly Hopeful, also subject to change). Heirani is really cool, and she breaks gender stereotypes in interesting ways, though ways that are not necessarily unfeminine. She’s pretty cool, also definitely sassy, and yes, very feisty. Especially when it comes to her brother.

3. Who’s your Finn? (Overeager, adorable, a cinnamon roll)

4a0a94124c7e3320585375fd5e1ac271

Undoubtedly Augustine Quillon. That’s all that really needs to be said.

4. Who’s your Padme? (kind, loving, but also kickbutt)

Jean Verde. That man is the epitome of kindness and love, but can be kickbutt if pushed.

5. Who’s your Count Dooku? (deliciously evil, extra and sick burns)

Maxim Lysander. All the other villains in the Infinity series have certain amounts of motivation and sympathy. But Lysander is just…evil.

6. Who’s your BB-8? (Too cute, everyone loves them, can do no wrong)

68613c72409e6c3b7f5d887b63513bd9

Malakai Verde, I guess. I can’t really think of any other characters that would fit this criteria. Cute characters obviously don’t come easy to me.

7. Who’s your Yoda? (underestimated, extra and wise)

Gama, Yilla’s stepmother. The woman is a wealth of wisdom, and she’s happy to share it (in a linear and grammatical fashion too). She’s also a nice stepmother, fancy that.

8. Who’s your Anakin Skywalker? (Bratty, rebellious, whiny)

3cc0dfea93c258f969ad973de91c6dc0

Justice.

Good grief, that boy. He can be an angst-fest if he wants to be.

9. Who’s your C3-PO? (always worrying, gives depressing information, constantly wailing)

Kendall, fits this somewhat. He’s a nihilist, and he likes dolling out depressing information. Always worrying and constantly wailing though aren’t really his things. He’s resigned to a fate thinking that everything is useless and meaningless, he doesn’t spend time stressing over it.

10. Who’s your Luke Skywalker? (Hero, has been through a lot, has their flaws)

All of my protagonists fit this. Chessy, Justice (yes, he can be Anakin and Luke), Yilla and Courageous (soon to be renamed), basically all of them. I can’t choose just one for this 🙂

I Tag…

Uh, The Story Sponge…

Tania

Megan

And anyone else! So, tell me about your characters! Who would they be? (shush…who’s your favourite character?)

Updates on Wattle Fires + My Camp NaNo Project

Look, here I am…posting. I know, my schedule’s been irregular and pretty patchy, but that’s how life is at the moment, and I just ask that you bear with mefor now. 😀

Today, I thought I might just give you a general update/ramble on how my writing is going at the moment, because I haven’t written one in several months and a lot has happened.

Wattle Fires

First up, updates on Wattle Fires. Most of you will probably remember my unfinished fantasy novel from NaNoWriMo last year.

Well, good news is…I finished it! I left it from December 1st, until about February 28th. And then, on a whim, I decided to write a few more words into it. And then I kept going. Before I knew it, I’d added 40k extra words and finished it. Continue reading “Updates on Wattle Fires + My Camp NaNo Project”
